Educational program involves the training of highly qualified philologists-translators fluent in English: to ensure the development of linguistic, speech, communicative, linguocultural and translation competences, as well as the ability to implement the acquired knowledge and skills in future professional activities.

The objects of study and professional activity of a bachelor of philology are languages (in theoretical/practical, synchronous/diachronic, dialectological, stylistic, sociocultural and other aspects); literature and oral folk art; genre and style varieties of texts; translation; interpersonal, intercultural and mass communication in oral and written form.

The program defines the goals of education - the training of specialists capable of solving complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of philology, which are characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions, namely in activities related to analysis, creation (in particular, translation) and evaluation of written and oral texts of different genres and styles, organizing successful communication in different languages. The theoretical content of the subject field is a system of basic scientific theories, concepts, principles, categories, methods and concepts of philology.

The structure of the program involves dynamic, integrative and interactive learning. The program offers a comprehensive approach to professional (translation) activities and implements this through training and practical training. Disciplines and modules included in the program are focused on current directions, within which further professional and scientific career of the applicant is possible.

The main focus of the educational program is on the ability to freely, flexibly and effectively use the languages studied in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in various spheres of life .

Bachelor in specialty 035 “Philology” is prepared to work in the following professions: translator, translator of technical literature, guide-translator, editor-translator, philologist, linguist, all of which, according to the National Classifier of Professions DK 003:2010, are included in the classification group 2444 " Professionals in the field of philology, linguistics and translation": 2444.2 "Philologists, linguists, translators and interpreters."
The main textbooks used for training in the subject “Practical course of the first foreign language (English)” are products of the Pearson publishing house. Textbooks are selected differentially for each course and allow you to simultaneously study on the Pearson English Portal online platform, which ensures the maintenance of the most modern blended-learning methodology. Training in the subject “Practice of translation from the first foreign language” is carried out using textbooks authored by teachers of the department, as well as textbooks and methodological developments of advanced teachers of the Kiev National Linguistic University and Kiev National Shevchenko University.
Mandatory components of the educational program include such professional subjects as: foreign language for professional purposes (for economic specialties), first language, practical course of the first foreign language (English), introduction to linguistics, practice of translation from the first foreign language, stylistics of the English language as a first foreign language, a foreign language of business communication (English), translation of foreign commercial documentation, fundamentals of the theory of speech communication, history of foreign literature, Latin and other subjects that ensure the acquisition of competencies in the chosen speciality.
A graduate can continue his studies at the second (master's) level of higher education in master's educational programs in the field of knowledge "Humanities" and in interdisciplinary programs close to philology. Also, DTEU has two Master's degree programs in Philology: "Applied Linguistics (Language Education, English)" and "Applied Linguistics (Political Linguistics, English)".
At the end of the first year of study, students have the right to choose one of their elective languages (German or Spanish) for further study starting from the second year.
