SSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2022 or 2023 with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (excluding the fourth subject) .
HSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2024 or 2025 with a minimum total grade point of 18 across four core subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English .
Subject Minimums: A minimum grade point of 4.0 is strictly required in each of the three core science subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry .
GCE (O and A Level) Standards: * O Level: Minimum 'B' grade in at least five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English.
A Level: Minimum of three 'B' grades in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry .
Shortlisting Prerequisite: Only a limited number of applicants from two separate shortlists (current year and last year) will be selected to sit for the written admission test .
Merit List Weighting: Admission is not based solely on the test; the final merit list is a composite score of the Written Test ( 60% ), HSC results ( 20% ), and SSC results ( 20% ) .
Penalty for Second-Time Applicants: Candidates who passed their HSC in 2024 will face a 5% mark deduction from their written test score during merit list preparation .
Disqualification Clause: Any incomplete or false information provided at any stage will result in immediate disqualification .
The curriculum is strategically designed to provide a unified foundation in Civil Engineering while offering specialized tracks in Environmental, Water Resources, and Coastal Engineering. This integration allows students to understand the interconnectedness of systems—for example, how inland water management impacts coastal erosion and how environmental pollutants migrate through hydrological cycles.
To bridge the gap between theory and industry practice, the department provides hands-on training in industry-standard software such as Delft3D for hydrodynamic and morphological modeling, ETABS for structural analysis, and various GIS and Remote Sensing platforms for geospatial mapping and environmental monitoring.
Our laboratory is equipped for high-precision analysis of water, soil, and air quality using advanced tools such as the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) for heavy metal detection, the TOC Analyzer for organic carbon measurement, and the UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. These tools support both academic research and commercial testing services for national development projects.
The department actively engages in applied research and consultancy through the Center for Environmental and Water Management (CEWM). Key focus areas include climate change adaptation, flood management, river training works, and disaster risk reduction, directly contributing to evidence-based decision-making for national sustainability.
Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in active research projects, such as the current study on "Municipal Wastewater Treatment Using Low-Cost Filtration Systems" in Dhaka City. Students work alongside faculty in the Biomedical Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) and other labs to explore sustainable water reuse and fecal sludge management solutions.
