You need a B.Sc degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Agriculture, or related Life Sciences with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC). Admission is through CUET-PG or the MZU entrance test.
The department has labs for food processing, food analysis, microbiology, and product development. Research areas include food processing and preservation, food safety & quality control, fermentation technology, value addition to local foods, and postharvest management of fruits and vegetables. Apply online via the MZU admissions portal during the Ph.D notification period. You need an M.Sc/M.Tech in a relevant field with 55% marks. Candidates with UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET, GATE, or ICAR SRF are exempt from the entrance test and go directly to the interview. Others take the MZU Ph.D entrance test followed by a research proposal presentation.
