The Department of Education, Mizoram University, is committed to promoting academic excellence, professional competence, and socially responsive educational leadership through its diverse academic programmes, namely M.A. (Education), B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D., and the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). The M.A. (Education) programme provides advanced and interdisciplinary understanding of educational theories, philosophy, psychology, sociology, curriculum studies, educational technology, and research methodology. The programme develops critical thinking, academic writing, and research skills while preparing students for careers in teaching, educational administration, policy planning, and research.
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme is designed to prepare professionally competent secondary school teachers through the integration of pedagogical theory, practical teaching experience, internship, and community engagement. The programme emphasizes learner-centred pedagogy, inclusive education, classroom management, educational technology, and reflective teaching practices aligned with national educational priorities and professional standards.
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme offers advanced professional training in teacher education, curriculum development, educational leadership, educational research, and policy studies. The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), introduced in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, offers multidisciplinary teacher education pathways through B.A. B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed., and B.Com. B.Ed. programmes. The programme integrates disciplinary knowledge with professional teacher training to prepare professionally competent secondary school teachers from the undergraduate level, enabling students to develop strong academic foundations, pedagogical competence, ethical values, and practical teaching skills. ITEP emphasizes experiential learning, school internship, community engagement, inclusive education, and holistic teacher preparation to meet the demands of twenty-first century education.
