Program under the Department is covering an in-depth knowledge of Library
& Information Science. For instance, management of library services,
budget, acquisition, information management, different library networks etc.
It also imparts knowledge on how to install and operate different library
management and system software like KOHA, Greenstone, Joomla, Soul etc. Apart
from these, it teaches the professional ethics that is necessary for the
working professionals on how to handle and disseminate information. For
instance, automation of Library using different library automation software,
this pave the way for the students in seeking their job and enhance their
skills in getting the true essence of working knowledge especially in
practical. It covers the historical development of Libraries in India like
the committees and commissions on libraries. The types of Libraries which are
Academic, Public, Special and National. It also covers the library
legislation and library acts in the states of India. The main principles of
the subject lies in its Laws which comprises of five important laws of
Library Science. The subject is quite vast as it covers multidisciplinary
areas of different disciplines therefore it is not able to mention all in
detail. Apart from all these, it covers the recent trends and technologies
and this is something the department can really take pride in; it covers
different types of software, programming languages, telecommunications,
wireless communication, computer networks, ways of internet, data security,
barcode, biometrics and so on.
