The two-year Master of Arts (MA) programme in Political Science follows the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Continuous Assessment Grading Pattern (CAGP) of the Mizoram University Regulation Governing Post-Graduate Programmes and comprises a total of 80 Credits. There shall be four semesters in the programme. There shall be 90 days of teaching in each semester.  Classes are taught through a combination of lectures and tutorials/guidance for the field project work, and dissertation. Students are assessed through internal tests, assignments, project guidance, dissertation guidance, presentations, and the end-semester exams.  There are nine (9) Disciplinary Major (DMj) courses spread over four semesters, two (2) Interdisciplinary Major (IMj), three (3) Disciplinary Minor (DMn), three (3) Interdisciplinary Minor (IMn) courses spread over the first three semesters. The IMn can be offered from the SWAYAM courses. The theory courses (DMj, DMn, IMj & IMn) carry a total of 46 credits in four semesters.  The rest comprise of the Field Project (FP) (four courses) comprising one (1) course in each semester and Dissertation Work (DW) comprising two (2) courses in the third and fourth semesters. The four field project courses carry 16 credits (each field project course carries 04 credits) and two dissertation work courses carry 18 credits (the dissertation carries 06 credits in the third semester and 12 credits in the fourth semester). It means, there are 34 credits from FP (16) and DW (18).  In short, there are 80 credits (46 theory + 34 research component (FP+ DW)] in the MA Programme in Political Science, under Mizoram University.
