The Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in School Counseling is comprised of 60 graduate credits and accredited by the Council for Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). School Counseling Certification: Graduates of the School Counseling Program receive the program's endorsement for certification as a school counselor (Pre-K-12) in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, applicants for school counseling certification are required to pass the Praxis II-Professional School Counselor (0421-paper / 5421-computer). Types of Employment: Graduates of the program may obtain employment in the following areas: public schools, private schools, charter schools, cyber schools, alternative schools, intermediate units, and university career, admissions, and advising offices. Employment Outlook: According to the Department of Labor (DOL) projections, there is expected to be an average (8%) increase in the number of School Counseling positions by the year 2024.
