The Publishing Studies sequence is designed to prepare graduates for careers in all types of publishing as well as library science or professional/technical writing. The Publishing Studies sequence requires students to hold an internship set-up in consultation with the English Studies Internship Director. The purpose of this internship is to give students practical experience in the publishing field to better prepare them for their careers. Why Study English - Publishing Studies? Students studying English form, evaluate and master the language. They critique and create art forms such as poetry, drama and the novel. A bachelor’s degree is usually sufficient for entry in many industries but for college or university educators a PHD is recommended. A major in English can be good preparation for continued graduate or professional training in areas such as English, law, political science/government, public administration, psychology, counseling, communications, and religious studies (i.e., seminary).
