With the growing recognition of exercise in managing lifestyle-related diseases, the demand for skilled professionals who understand the role of physical activity in health is rising. Formerly known as the MSc in Exercise as Medicine, this programme reflects this trend, building on Loughborough University’s internationally recognised research in physical activity and health. It's aim - to educate a new, highly skilled group of allied health professionals with the ability to work alongside clinicians and practitioners to manage the epidemic of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.
The programme is aimed at individuals with a background in exercise science and/or physical activity who wish to enhance their scientific knowledge and skills to effectively promote the uptake of exercise, particularly for individuals with chronic conditions including cancer, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and renal diseases, frailty, mental health disorders, metabolic and musculoskeletal conditions.
To further enhance your experience, throughout this programme you will also have the opportunity to participate in carefully curated practice-based learning opportunities. These opportunities, available in both clinical and community settings, allow you to refine your skills and gain valuable experience working with individuals living with chronic diseases, bridging classroom learning with real-world practice.
Based in the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine – East Midlands, you will be taught in high quality teaching environments and have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, designed to facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge research to front-line support and care.
