Many real-world problems are solved using a combination of mathematical and computational techniques. Our MSci (Hons) Computer Science and Mathematics degree will equip you with essential skills in both areas and in their intersection.

Mathematics and computer science are closely linked, and this course provides a strong foundation for careers that use both subjects, as well as those traditionally open to single honours graduates in either discipline.

The course is balanced evenly between computer science and mathematics, giving graduates a wide range of experience in both areas. In the first two years, you will study core mathematics subjects needed for business, industry and academia, with a particular emphasis on computational methods. The core computer science subjects have a particular emphasis on mathematical aspects of computer science.

In your third year, you will complete a project that draws on your combined knowledge of computer science and mathematics. You will also have the opportunity to tailor you degree by choosing from a range of optional specialised modules in both subjects.

The additional year of the MSci provides a broad understanding and study of entrepreneurship, further in-depth mathematical modelling and the opportunity to develop your research skills through a substantial, research‑based individual project conducted with a member of academic staff.
