Chemistry, often referred to as the “central science,” helps us develop a deep understanding of the world around us. Technological advances have transformed the way chemistry is carried out, with computational methods playing an increasingly important role in both scientific research and the chemical industry.

Our Chemistry with Computing degree provides a strong foundation in chemistry while also teaching how modern techniques in computational chemistry and data analysis can be used real-world chemical challenges such as materials design, silico drug development and the analysis of large datasets, equipping you with valuable skills.

During the course, you will study organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry while developing strong practical lab skills using our state-of-the-art STEMLab facilities. In addition, you will learn computer programming and explore modern computer-assisted techniques used in contemporary chemical research, supported by our high-quality computer labs.

You will be taught by leading experts from Loughborough’s highly respected departments of Chemistry and Computer Science, many of whom are engaged in research with far-reaching impact. You will also benefit from strong pastoral support and a peer-mentoring scheme.
