Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is a
distinguished public research university in Sylhet, Bangladesh, established in
1986 and beginning academic activities on 13 February 1991. It pioneered the
American-style credit and semester system and was the first in the country to
introduce integrated honours degrees, reflecting its longstanding commitment to
modern higher education. Over the years, SUST has grown from three departments
with 205 students and 13 faculty to a comprehensive institution with 6 schools,
27 academic departments, 2 institutes, and a wide range of academic and
