The primary goal of the bachelor's degree program in Bangla is to produce graduates who are competent, leaders, and innovators in their respective fields. Besides, the program also aims to produce socially responsible and historically, politically, and culturally aware graduates capable of engaging in multi-dimensional activities. To that end, the program covers the history of Bengali literature in the ancient, medieval, and modern periods; ancient, medieval, and modern literature of various genres; literary forms and variations; folklore and Bengali folklore; poetics and aesthetics; criticism; phonetics and Bengali phonetics; modern linguistics, sociolinguistics, and language planning; post-partition Indian Bengali literature; world literature; comparative literature; the social and cultural history of Bangladesh; media and film, etc. As a general subject, the students of the Bengali department study some other subjects. such as English Language, Language, and Cultural Anthropology, Fundamentals of Sociology, Approaches and Programs of Social Welfare, Bangladeshi Politics and Administration, People and Administration, English Language and Literature (Contemporary English Literature), Computer Application and Introduction, and so on. Overall, the program is motivated by the conviction that graduates will be multidimensional, epistemologically competent, and up-to-date modern human beings.
