Peru's invaluable and varied built heritage, which is more than 14,000 years old, developed in different geographic contexts, with diverse materials, techniques and construction systems, is in latent danger of being lost, both because our country is highly seismic and has a long history of natural disasters, and because in the last 50 years, it has been affected by economic, social and political conditions which have obvious repercussions on its conservation.
Nationally, historic areas and centres, containers of urban environments and monuments, are potential areas of work. It is necessary and possible to manage projects to make private and public investments viable, aimed at recovering the quality of life of its population and the conservation of its built heritage.
This situation requires the training of teachers who can competitively address and resolve conservation demands. For this reason, the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Arts considers it necessary and urgent to support specialized training tasks through the Master's program leading to the academic degree of Master of Science with a major in Conservation and Management of Built Heritage.
The subjects covered in this Master's Degree complement the knowledge acquired at university, focusing especially on the national reality.
The master's degree seeks to train in the field of conservation and management of built heritage for intervention in both historical and artistic monuments and in urban complexes of a monumental nature.
