The admission profile for the Orthodontics specialization is for ethical and critical dental professionals who build knowledge to diagnose, prevent, intercept and treat dental and skeletal malpositions, with a multidisciplinary vision to restore form, function and facial aesthetics to patients. ; and develop research in its area of ​​competence for the solution of dental and maxillofacial health problems in the population.


The UTE Specialization in Orthodontics is a fourth-level postgraduate program, which provides training at the highest level of cognitive, scientific and professional skills in the different specific areas of the area, allowing graduates of the program to perform with humanism and ethics in the functions of diagnosis, prevention, treatment, of the different dental and skeletal malpositions.


Due to its teaching-assistance nature, this program lasts two and a half (2 ½ ) years in 5 academic periods and 4,545 hours between teaching activities assisted by the teacher, collaborative learning, application practices and learning experimentation, autonomous learning and postgraduate internships at the level of the Dental Clinic of the UTE; all this structured through a study plan conceived as an integrated set of subjects, practices and educational activities, grouped by criteria, objectives and guidelines that give a sense of unity, continuity and coherence.

Universidad UTE currently offers 25 undergraduate programs, specializing in art and humanities, business and administration, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, and social sciences. 


Tuition fees

Average tuition fees for undergraduate medicine and dentistry degree programs are US$4000 per academic semester. All other undergraduate degree programs are US$3000 per academic semester. 

International students who study at the university as part of an exchange/study abroad program are exempt from tuition fees. International students are also eligible for scholarships or can opt for interest-free deferred payments through the Medianet network.


Entry requirements and how to apply

If you’re an international student who’s interested in studying at the Universidad UTE, you will need to have a high school diploma (or equivalent). This should be registered with the Ministry of Education or Official Transcriptions. You will also need to pass the university’s admission exam. 

International students who wish to study at the university as part of an exchange/study abroad program will need to provide evidence of the mobility agreements signed between the Universidad UTE and their initial higher education institution. 


Universidad UTE currently offers 24 postgraduate programs, specializing in art and humanities, business and administration, engineering and technology, life sciences natural sciences, and social sciences, as well as medicine and dentistry specializations.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are US$8140, while the average cost of medicine and dentistry specializations are US$4000 per academic semester. 

Students who have international agreements are exempt from tuition fees. 

Special funding

Students can defer their payment for up to 12 months without added interest if paying with one of the following credit cards: Visa, Diners, Banco Pichincha, Pacificard and Red Medianet

Entry requirements and how to apply


If you’re interested in applying to study at the Universidad UTE, you will need to complete and provide the following: 


•Up-to-date CV

•Motivation letter

•Undergraduate degree – this should be registered with the Ecuadorian Authority of Higher Education - Senescyt or apostilled or legalized via consular in cases of international students

•English proficiency certificate at the level required for the program, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages


For medicine and dentistry specializations, students must also provide: 


•ID card/copy of passport

•Undergraduate degree registered with Senescyt and Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health

•A passing grade on the Professional Habilitation Exam from Ecuadorian Council of Higher Education Assurance
