This programme gives students a thorough understanding of the entire construction and development process, from the client's brief issued to the lead consultant followed by the design and planning stages to the construction, completion, occupation and maintenance of the facilities.
Its main areas of specialisation are construction technology, measurements and estimation, contract administration, construction project management and computer application in construction.
Students are introduced to the current technologies, skills and the best practices of the industry at the early stage and will apply them in the form of assignments and final year projects. These include Building Information Modelling, surveying, value engineering, project management and contract administration.
During the course of programme, students are brought to site visits for industry exposure. Industry speakers also routinely visit the campus to present talks to the students on various issues. The students activities are well supported by the programme-based "Built Environment Society" which annually organises "Green Card" seminars, a safety and health certification by CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board). This prepares them for their Industrial training stint.
