The Bachelor’s program “Applied Laboratory Sciences” within the Faculty of Horticulture, Forestry and Plants Biotechnologies offers an interdisciplinary approach, with the mission of providing theoretical and practical training for specialists in an area of applied engineering. The program integrates innovative elements that contribute to the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to the management of laboratories in the field of natural sciences, with applications in environmental and biodiversity protection, biotechnology, and food safety. The specific training of students for laboratory activities in the natural sciences has emerged as a necessity in a field that is continuously evolving due to the increasing variety of techniques, equipment, and technologies. At the same time, the implementation of a quality management system ensures that laboratory activities are carried out under controlled conditions, leading to reliable, repeatable, and reproducible results. Thus, the introduction of the specialization “Applied Laboratory Sciences” is highly relevant today, given the growing number of laboratories in the broad field of natural sciences that require highly qualified personnel. The curriculum covers all aspects of laboratory activity, starting from its organization according to GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) principles, the standardization of analytical methods in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular genetics, and biotechnology, as well as the validation of standardized methods, operation of specific equipment and installations, and application of quality management systems for accreditation purposes.
