This program consist of a minimum of 36 semester hours of course work, including a minor of 6 hours selected in consultation with the graduate adviser. MSER candidates are required to take advanced micro theory, advanced macro theory, math economics, and advanced econometrics. There are two options for the completion of this degree. The first option is to take 6 hours of supervised Research Problems in Lieu of Thesis. The second option is to take 6 hours of additional graduate economics courses. All MSER students must pass comprehensive exit exams in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
