Educational Objectives Through their careers, Pacific Civil Engineering graduates will: Plan, design, construct, maintain, analyze, advance, and manage civil engineering systems Pursue professional licensure and certifications Engage in life-long learning and pursue advanced level studies Demonstrate leadership skills through career advancement and active participation in the civil engineering profession and in the community Students who complete the BS degree in Civil Engineering will be able to: (a) Apply fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. (b) Design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data. (c) Design the fundamental components of a system or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, constructability, and sustainability. (d) Function on multi-disciplinary teams. (e) Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. (f) Understand the importance of professional and ethical responsibilities of engineers. (g) Effectively communicate using written, oral, and graphical means. (h) Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context. (i) Recognize the need for, and engage in, lifelong learning. (j) Have knowledge of contemporary issues in the engineering industry. (k) Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary in engineering practice. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Student must complete a minimum of 120 units of academic work and a minimum of 32 units of Cooperative Education in order to earn the bachelor of science in civil engineering degree.
