What does it take to care for someone when they’re at their most vulnerable? How do you make confident clinical decisions while never losing sight of the person behind the patient?
If you want to become a registered Adult Nurse and make a difference to people’s lives, this two-year master’s is for you. It’s designed for graduates and career changers, as well as qualified nurses who want to gain a second field of registration.
At Southampton, science, compassion and practical action come together. You’ll learn how to assess patients’ needs, provide person-centred care, coordinate treatment and advocate for the people you support. As your experience grows, you’ll develop the confidence to manage increasingly complex care and prepare for the leadership responsibilities of a registered nurse.
Get stuck into professional practice throughout your degree. The programme combines academic learning with 2,300 hours of practice learning, with experience in simulated environments and placements across hospital and community healthcare settings.

Your career could take you into NHS or private hospitals, emergency healthcare, hospices, community services, clinics or GP practices. As your experience develops, you could also progress towards specialist practice, research, education or leadership roles.

UK 2.2 Hons degree or above or an equivalent standard in other qualifications approved by the University as well as GCSE English language, science and maths 4-9 or A*-C. You will be required to successfully complete a Recognition of Prior Learning as a condition of entry to the programme. Submit: 650 hours of relevant theoretical learning from your first degree or employment and 620 hours of practice worked in a healthcare environment under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional Subject to satisfactory health and DBS checks English language: band I, IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in all other components
