This dynamic, contemporary Operations Management MSc programme is designed to meet the ever changing needs of the maritime industry. It takes a strategic perspective of the industry with particular emphasis placed on the management of ports, shipping operations, maritime law, maritime safety and environmental protection. The programme will furnish you with the skills required to secure positions at the highest level within this competitive worldwide industry. Industrial visits are considered an important part of the course and would typically include: Port of Liverpool, ship visit, insurance underwriters (usually in London), P & I Club and IMO. There are also a number of specialist industry speakers invited throughout the year in conjunction with professional bodies and institutions. The School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations is home to internationally recognised research groups Electrical Electronic Engineering Research Centre (Prof J Zhang, Prof E. Levi), the Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute (Prof J. Wang), Materials and Structures Research Group (Prof J Ren, Prof I Jones) and GERI (Prof Burton). In addition, collaboration with industry and knowledge transfer is an important aspect in the development of research within the School.

An Honours degree in a relevant subject with a minimum 2.2 classification or a professional qualification with equivalent standing such as a UK Class 1 Master Mariner or Chief Engineer certificate of competence together with relevant professional experience, or a non-UK equivalent. Non-UK applicants will be expected to have demonstrated competence in English language equivalent to a minimum of IELTS 6.0. Applicants who have studied and successfully achieved a UK degree within 24 months of the start of the MSc are exempt from this requirement.
