The BSc (Hons) Nursing with Registered Nurse Status (Mental Health) has been approved and monitored by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Students of this course will complete supervised clinical practice in a variety of settings, both within and outside hospital settings. Plus, students will gain further training using LJMU’s on-campus clinical practice suites. Mental Health nurses’ roles are to engage in, develop and disengage from therapeutic relationships with service users and their families using effective communication and interpersonal skills. The aim will be to promote health and wellbeing for individuals alongside assisting them to achieve their full potential in recovery.

Applicants must hold grade 4 or grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics GCSE or an approved qualification. We will consider applicants who are in the process of completing their GCSE English Language and Mathematics or Level 2 equivalents. Acceptable qualifications would be: • Key Skills Level 2 in English/ Maths • NVQ Level 2 Functional skills in Maths and English Writing and or Reading • Skills for Life Level 2 in Numeracy/English • Higher Diploma in Maths/ English • Functional skills level 2 in Maths/ English • Northern Ireland Essential Skills Level 2 in Communication or Application of Number • Wales Essential Skills Level 2 in Communication or Application of Number
