Forensic Investigation is a dynamic discipline combining a wide range of areas and specialisms which are of vital importance in the investigation of crime. The MSc in Forensic Investigation will prepare candidates for various roles within Forensic Investigation and the Criminal Justice system, by developing an in depth practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of a range of techniques and procedures applied to this field. Additionally, the skills learnt through this degree will prepare students for careers in several fields outside of the criminal justice system. There are several research topics available for this degree, these include (but are not limited to): Development of new approaches to the understanding of Gun Shot Residue (GSR); Development of methods for the enhancement of latent fingermarks; Exploring the applicability of several novel inorganic materials as sensors for use in Forensic Investigation; Development of new approaches to combat heritage crime; Disaster Victim Identification; Trace evidence; Ballistics; Modelling gun-shot damage.
