The MSc by Research in Urban and Regional Studies within the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences aims to develop researchers who are conceptually aware, who can utilise a range of cartographic, computing and statistical skills and methods, and who can practise and develop their own research capabilities, and disseminate that research in a meaningful way. The sole assessment for the MSc by Research is a thesis (25,000-30,000 words). Members of the staff team in this area have a long involvement with urban and economic geography with specific interests in the United States, Canada, Ireland and Africa.
