Make a real impact in treating the physical and functional limitations of others with La Trobe's Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (Honours).

In this degree, you'll explore topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and prosthetic and orthotic prescription, design and fabrication. You'll hone your skills through clinical teaching at our purpose-built onsite clinic, then take what you've learned into the real world with clinical placements at external prosthetic and orthotic facilities and industry partners.

You'll choose from two minor options – an industry minor, or a research minor – and graduate with the skills you need to become a qualified health professional.

By completing La Trobe's Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (Honours), you will:

  • learn the theoretical basis and clinical practice of prosthetic and orthotic management, including treatment, assessment and prescriptions in children and adults
  • examine research and data, and how it relates to consumers
  • practice and apply the assessment, prescription, manufacture and fit of prostheses and orthoses
  • understand the importance of wellbeing in a person's healthcare journey, and how health professionals can work together to achieve the best outcome.
