The Master of Oral Health (MOH) provides students with an advanced knowledge, skills and attributes in the scope of dental therapy and dental hygiene practice. The graduate will demonstrate a high level of research-informed clinical practice, the implementation of an oral health promotion project, the ability to produce research outputs (Level 9 NZQF) at a standard suitable for internationally peer reviewed publications and presentations, as well as the ability to embark on postgraduate study at the doctoral level. Admission to the programme is limited to a maximum of six candidates annually. A candidate for the degree shall normally follow a programme of study for one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.

Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, on the advice of the Admissions Sub-Committee of the Postgraduate Studies Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry, which must be satisfied that the applicant has the ability to complete the programme.

Every applicant must hold the degree of Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Otago or another oral health qualification approved by the Admissions Sub-Committee and be registered in the areas of dental hygiene and/or dental therapy practice in his or her country of practice or residence.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum grade point average of B+ in the final year of the qualifying degree or qualification.

Admission to the programme is limited to a maximum of six candidates annually.
