The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre Studies is a practical, studio-based degree designed to provide established professional theatre practitioners with the ability to refine, extend and articulate their practice through the presentation of a creative art-work/s and a written component (exegesis).

MFA students work with specialist supervisors to elevate and augment their theatrical craft through investigation of their field (e.g. acting, directing, theatre design, playwriting) and related ideas and theory, practical exploration, experimentation and reflection.

  • Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities)
  • Every applicant must have been awarded a bachelor's degree majoring in the subject or subjects of study proposed and an Honours or Postgraduate Diploma in the subject of study proposed, with an average grade of at least B, or have alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities)
