This multidisciplinary course of Plant Biotechnology encompasses plant physiology, plant biochemistry and plant molecular biology. It brings together the expertise of plant scientists in the Botany and Biochemistry departments and aims to produce graduates with a knowledge of the structure and function of the whole plant and the ability to apply modern molecular and biochemical techniques to the manipulation of plants of agronomic importance.

  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Sciences).
  2. Every applicant must have been awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science majoring in the subject or subjects of study proposed with an average grade of at least B, or have an alternative qualification acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Sciences).
  3. An applicant seeking admission to the thesis-only option of the programme (see regulation 2(c) below) must have been awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma in Science, including research report, thesis preparation, or dissertation with an average grade of at least B+.
