Psychology is the study of mental processes and behavior. Psychologists study concepts such as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, interpersonal relationships and the individual and collective unconscious. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity including issues related to daily life - e.g. family, education and work-and the treatment of mental health problems. Graduates of this major go on to: work in human-service related professions (e.g., drug/alcohol rehabilitation counseling, mental health clinics, social welfare agencies, correctional facilities and afterschool programs), work in business-related fields (e.g., administration, human resources, sales and customer service), pursue graduate studies in psychology or a related discipline, work in a research-related field (e.g., marketing research, survey research, psychology lab director).
