The Composition major in the Bachelor of Music degree is designed to train students to be composers and versatile musicians. The curriculum is structured to include a high level of performance in an applied area or areas. The program contains instruction in conducting, electronic music, improvisation, orchestration, theory and history courses. Areas of study include: Music Theory, Composition, Analysis, Applied Music, Musicology. Due to the rigorous and broad curriculum of the Composition program, graduates are well equipped to compose, perform, and teach. A number of graduates also continue their education through graduate school.
