Anthropology is the study of humans. This major can take you around the globe and through the ages of time as you study the history and culture of various civilizations in trying to understand what it means to be human. Our faculty has expertise across several different cultures and in many different areas of anthropology. Your experience as an anthropology major could include learning about anything from the boulders of Stonehenge and Native American cave paintings to the language of text-messaging or the impact of climate change on ecotourism. Graduates of this major go on to: work in museums or cultural organizations; take jobs that can include excavation, research, marketing or advertising, attend graduate school, and work in a number of government agencies such as the CIA, the FBI, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health and Human Services, historic preservation offices, or environmental agencies. The Anthropology Department offers two areas of study: Cultural Anthropology and Forensic Anthropology.
