Academic entry requirement Prerequisites The following conditions must be met in order to gain admission into a Master of Arts degree:

the school in which you seek enrolment must be able to provide appropriate facilities, resources and supervision for your chosen area of research.
The minimum academic requirement for entry to a Master of Arts at La Trobe University is a three-year Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years with a weighted average mark of 65 or above.
(i) Entry into the thesis-only stream requires an Australian Honours degree or equivalent with a weighted average mark of 65 or above, including the completion of a research thesis.
(ii) The coursework-and-thesis stream requires possession of a three-year Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline with a weighted average mark of 65 or above.
(iii) The minimum academic requirement for La Trobe applicants wishing to transfer to Master of Arts from a Bachelor (Honours) in a relevant discipline is a weighted average mark of 65 or above.
Where an applicant does not meet the normal academic entry requirements, an application may be made for admission on equity or alternative entry grounds where the applicant can demonstrate, through discipline-appropriate forms of evidence:
That they have attained the prior research and/or learning outcomes that normally pertain to the minimum academic entry requirements for the degree, and
That they have the capacity to successfully undertake a higher degree by research.
