The Jerusalem Studies program at Al-Quds University is a distinguished graduate-level academic program that addresses all aspects of Jerusalem. It provides students with comprehensive knowledge that equips them to engage with the city's issues and work within its local and international institutions. This multidisciplinary program includes a diverse range of courses and local and international field visits, forming an essential foundation for understanding the city in all its complexities. Students explore the city's historical, archaeological, economic, and social dimensions, in addition to the political and legal issues that affect its administration and urban planning, particularly under occupation. The program serves as a platform for the exchange of Jerusalemite minds and expertise, with a distinguished faculty of professors specializing in Jerusalem. It also hosts numerous Jerusalemite experts and figures as part of its coursework and extracurricular activities.

Until now, teaching has been taking place in the historical atmosphere of the Old City, specifically in Khan Tankiz - the Cotton Market, but in mid-March 2020, teaching was moved via Zoom due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

To accommodate working students, classes are held in the afternoon (4:30 – 7:30). The language of instruction is Arabic, but a very good command of English is required. Registration was initially planned for the English-language version of the program in the first semester of 2015/2016, but due to insufficient enrollment, this option was postponed to later semesters.

In addition to academic teaching, the program works to broaden students’ horizons through public lectures in which specialists in various fields participate. The program offers these lectures to students and also opens them to the general public in an effort to spread general culture and scientific knowledge to important citizens in the city of Jerusalem.
