The mission of the program is to train highly qualified professionals in the field of design who possess fundamental knowledge, practical skills, professional competencies, and innovative approaches to creative activity.

The program aims to prepare highly skilled specialists capable of solving creative challenges within the contemporary media environment (mass media, publishing, advertising, marketing), equipped with strong design and content development skills, and proficient in the latest technologies of practical design.

The Design educational program has been internationally accredited by the ACQUIN agency (Germany) for the period from March 28, 2024, to September 30, 2032. The program is also accredited by national accreditation bodies, confirming its compliance with international and national quality standards in higher education. According to the ranking by the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, the Design program improved its position by 30% compared to the previous year, demonstrating significant progress in its national standing.
The “Design” program at Turan–Astana University provides a broad range of theoretical knowledge and practical competencies for future professionals. Throughout their academic trajectory, students explore various areas of design, including graphic design, computer design, and multimedia technologies. The program develops proficiency in modern design tools such as CorelDraw, Photoshop, and 3D Max, while also offering opportunities to work in visual communications and the creation of social and commercial projects.
A key feature of the program is its strong emphasis on practical training. Students complete internships at leading design agencies, printing houses, and art galleries, where they gain hands-on experience in real professional environments. The program also focuses on developing professional competencies in project management and client communication.
Students of the Design program consistently demonstrate outstanding achievements at national and international competitions and Olympiads, winning awards and gaining recognition within the professional community. As part of practice-oriented training, students develop technical proficiency and acquire hands-on experience with specialized industry software through internships at leading regional partner organizations, including LLP “HudGraf 603,” LLP “Inter-Design,” LLP “AKS Group KZ,” LLP “InDesign Studio,” LLP “StroyComplex-22,” and LLP “SFK Engineering.” A key indicator of the program’s quality is the targeted development of advanced communication and marketing competencies essential for effective professional practice in the design industry.
Within the Design educational program, several specialized educational and creative spaces operate, including the “Graphic Design” Laboratory, “Idea Lab,” the “Innovative Artworks” Creative Workshop, the “Drawing and Painting Studio,” the “Creative Media Lab,” the Center for Innovative and Transformative Ethno-Design, the EthnoLab, and the Folk Design Workshop.

Students of the program are among the top performers nationwide in the field of design education, having received awards such as first-degree honors for significant contributions to youth policy (“Best Student of the Turkic Peoples”), certificates of appreciation for contributions to poetic and cultural projects under the American Astana and Makerspace Astana initiatives, and annual national awards such as “Best Student of Kazakhstan.”
The academic staff comprises highly qualified professors and instructors, including PhD holders, Honored Art Workers, recipients of the “Honored Worker of Kazakhstan” title, and members of the Union of Artists. Faculty members bring extensive practical experience to their teaching, and are authors of SCOPUS-indexed articles, monographs, textbooks, and instructional materials. Practical training is conducted at departmental branches, including the Youth Musical Theatre, the “Akhan” Creative Workshop, and the “Politra” Design Studio, providing students with hands-on experience in professional settings.
Faculty members and students of the Design program actively participate in international competitions and organize personal exhibitions, including 11 regional and 3 national-level exhibitions.

Graduates of the program hold leadership positions such as heads of design departments, independent instructors, and researchers, and continue their education at the master’s level.

Accreditation and Rankings
Graduates who complete the Bachelor’s degree program 6B02101 – Design are qualified to carry out creative and artistic work in the design of architectural environments, exhibitions, interiors, visual communications, advertising, industrial and household products. They are prepared to work in creative project teams of enterprises and organizations.
The Design educational program is aimed at training competitive and creative bachelors who possess professional competencies in artistic and design activities, visual communications, and ethno-design. Graduates master modern methods of design, graphic and spatial modeling, and are capable of research, creative, and innovative activities, as well as integrating national cultural codes into contemporary design solutions.

The program is delivered using a modern material and technical base that ensures the development of practical skills and professional thinking. The educational process takes place in specialized laboratories and creative spaces equipped with the necessary equipment and resources for practical and project-based learning.

Turan–Astana University maintains extensive international partnerships and actively cooperates with leading foreign educational and scientific institutions. The university collaborates with universities in the United Kingdom, China, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and the Republic of Belarus through academic mobility programs and scientific and educational exchange.
As part of the program’s internationalization strategy, a dual-degree agreement has been signed with Varna Free University named after Chernorizets Hrabar (Republic of Bulgaria), ensuring the integration of international educational standards and expanding students’ academic and professional opportunities.
Students of the program participate in academic mobility programs, study and undertake internships at partner universities abroad, and take part in international educational projects, scientific conferences, summer schools, and joint research initiatives. These activities contribute to the development of intercultural competencies and enhance graduates’ competitiveness in both national and international labor markets.

As part of their entrepreneurial skills development, students conceptualize and implement innovative business models, some of which have successfully completed acceleration programs, including notable projects such as the startup “Innovative Waste Processing Technologies.”
In 2023, the university implemented a text-generation detection module developed by the American company Originality, integrated into the Platon AIS plagiarism detection system. This initiative helps prevent the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing. In addition, the university actively applies the ROS system, within which students prepare research projects, contributing to increased student engagement in scientific activities.
