The aim of the programme is to prepare competitive specialists with key and professional competencies in the field of restaurant and hotel business, capable of effectively applying modern managerial and digital technologies, as well as developing and implementing service products and services tailored to the needs and expectations of various categories of consumers.

The “Restaurant and Hotel Business” program at Turan-Astana University offers a comprehensive system of theoretical and practice-oriented training for future specialists in the hospitality industry. Within the framework of a structured educational structure, the program ensures a systematic mastery of the main areas of professional activity in the hotel and restaurant business. Students acquire in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in the management of hotel and restaurant enterprises, service organization, service quality management, operational and managerial activities, marketing, and promotion of hospitality industry services.

The practical training of students is aimed at mastering modern service standards, managerial and digital solutions used in the restaurant and hotel business, as well as developing skills in working with professional software products. Internships and practical training are carried out at leading enterprises in the industry, including President Hotel LLP (Rixos Hotel), Sheraton Hotel, Mumtaz Restaurant, Saad Hotel, and Comfort Hotel.

Students of the program are among the best in the country, having won second place in the Republican Subject Olympiad in 2023, 2024, and 2025 academic years, as well as third place in Student Research Work (SRW) competitions in 2025. Annually, as part of their industrial practice, students of the program undertake internships at international hotels located in Turkey.

Classes within the program are conducted by highly qualified faculty members, including professors, Doctors of Science, Candidates of Science, PhD holders, as well as instructors with extensive practical experience in the restaurant and hotel business. The teaching staff includes hospitality industry professionals affiliated with the department’s branches, such as President Hotel LLP (Rixos Hotel) and Mumtaz Restaurant. As part of professional development activities, faculty members have completed scientific internships in Georgia, Russia, and Romania. The academic staff is actively engaged in research activities, being authors of publications indexed in the SCOPUS database, monographs, textbooks, and teaching aids, as well as participants in internal research grant projects. All of this ensures the integration of modern scientific approaches and relevant industry practices into the educational process.

Graduates of the program are employed by leading international companies in the service and transport sectors and hold managerial positions in catering enterprises and hotel businesses.

At the international level, the program has been accredited by ACQUIN (Germany, 2022, for a period of eight years), as well as by IQAA, NAAR, and Atameken, confirming compliance of the curriculum with high international education standards.

The fields of professional activity include management bodies of governmental and national organizations; enterprises of the hospitality and restaurant business sector; as well as science, education, public administration, and other areas of human activity directly or indirectly related to hotel and restaurant operations.

The areas of professional activity include public authorities related to the organization of the hotel business (ministries, akimats, their regional divisions and structures); public and private companies engaged in restaurant and hotel business; service sector enterprises related to food service organization (restaurants, hotels, and other facilities); hotels and accommodation facilities; sanatoriums, resorts, and boarding houses; restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and bars; property and property complexes (enterprises, institutions, organizations) and other facilities of the hospitality industry; research organizations studying issues of nutrition development and marketing in food service organizations; educational institutions training mid-level specialists in hotel management; advertising agencies engaged in promoting restaurant and hotel services in domestic and international markets.

Students of the program have participated in academic mobility programs at “1918 December University” (Romania).

In 2023, the university implemented a module for detecting the probability of AI-generated text, developed by the American company Originality, which was integrated into the AIS “Platon” plagiarism detection platform. This initiative contributes to minimizing the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing. In addition, the university actively applies the ROS system, within which students develop research projects, thereby increasing student engagement in scientific activities.

Each year, the university purchases 100 annual licenses for the Coursera educational platform, with subsequent certification, demonstrating a high level of interest in non-formal education.
