The Master’s degree educational program 7M06101 “Information
Systems” is a modern, practice- and research-oriented program designed
to train Masters of Engineering and Technology in the field of information and
communication technologies. The program has been developed in full compliance
with the State Compulsory Standard of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, the professional standard “Information and
Communication Technologies” approved by the National Chamber of
Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” and is implemented using the credit-based learning
system.
A key feature of this educational program is its focus on training managerially
and technologically mature specialists who are capable not only of
developing and maintaining information systems but also of effectively applying
them in economics, management, science, and the public sector. The Master’s
program is aimed at deepening the professional, analytical, and research
competencies of bachelor’s degree graduates and preparing them for leadership,
engineering, and expert positions.
A significant advantage of the program is the availability of two
specialized learning tracks:
-
Information Systems in Economics and
Scientific Activities ;
-
Information Systems in Management.
This structure enables Master’s students to build an individual
educational pathway based on their professional specialization, interests,
career goals, and current labor market demands.
A distinctive feature of our Master’s program is the deep
integration of the educational process with the department’s research and
project activities. Master’s students are actively involved in
research and development (R&D), participation in grant-funded projects of
the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
rector’s grants, interdisciplinary research initiatives, and international
scientific and practical conferences. This approach develops sustainable skills
in scientific analysis, academic writing, and the practical implementation of
research results.
An important advantage of the program is its orientation toward current
and emerging areas of IT development, including:
-
intelligent information systems and artificial
intelligence;
-
big data analysis and processing;
-
digital analytics and intelligent monitoring;
-
design and operation of corporate information
systems;
-
information security and data protection;
-
generation of digital and language content.
Within the framework of the program, the development and
planned establishment of a Digital Language Content Generation Laboratory
is underway. The laboratory is intended for scientific research and the
production of commercial content in the state, Russian, and English languages.
This initiative represents a unique competitive advantage of the program and
aligns with the digital development priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A significant strength of the Master’s program is its practice-oriented
and project-based learning model. Master’s students develop software
products, intelligent systems, and analytical solutions as part of coursework,
internships, and Master’s theses, using modern CASE technologies, integrated
development environments, and advanced information systems design
methodologies. Particular emphasis is placed on bringing research outcomes to
the level of practical implementation and commercialization.
The educational program is characterized by an interdisciplinary
approach, integrating IT competencies with management, economics,
entrepreneurship, pedagogy, and legal aspects of digital activities. This
enables graduates to work effectively as engineers, system architects, heads of
IT departments, analysts, and specialists in the digital transformation of
organizations.
Special attention should be given to the high level of
international and scientific activity of both Master’s students and
faculty members. Students participate in and win prizes at international Olympiads
in artificial intelligence and programming (ICPC), publish research papers in
international conference proceedings, and take part in digital technology
forums such as Digital Bridge and Astana Hub. The department
actively develops cooperation with foreign universities and commercial
organizations, including those in the Russian Federation, thereby expanding
academic and professional mobility opportunities for Master’s students.
An important advantage of the program is its focus on the
development of managerial and pedagogical competencies.
Graduates are prepared not only for engineering and research activities but
also for organizing the educational process using modern information and
pedagogical technologies, as well as for making managerial and technical
decisions in complex and non-standard situations.
The quality of program implementation is confirmed by the presence
of specialized accreditation, compliance with the Dublin
Descriptors and current professional standards, which ensures recognition of the
degree and enhances the competitiveness of graduates in national and
international labor markets.
Thus, the Master’s educational program 7M06101 “Information
Systems” at our university is distinguished by:
-
close integration of education with research,
grants, and commercialization;
-
a strong focus on artificial intelligence,
data analytics, and digital content;
-
practice-oriented and project-based learning;
-
interdisciplinary and managerial orientation;
-
active international and scientific
engagement;
-
the development of a culture of academic
integrity and research independence.
The implementation of this program ensures the training of highly
qualified, research- and management-oriented Master’s graduates who
are capable of effectively solving complex professional problems and
contributing to the development of the digital economy, science, and education.
