Acadia’s English program offers more than 60 full- and half-year courses taught by specialists in various literary fields. Students will be introduced to a variety of novels, plays, poems, and essays while providing them with strategies for developing a clear and persuasive writing style. Upper-year students pursue their interests and broaden their experience of literature and culture in courses covering a range of periods, authors, genres, cultures, and critical approaches. Acadia also offers several creative writing courses. In making a thesis a major component of the MA program, the Department offers students training in writing that will be key to a successful PhD program, and that will equally help them acquire skills of self-discipline and time management essential to any profession.
