Chemistry focuses on the structure, properties, and synthesis of matter which includes virtually everything. Students may pursue an Honours BSc in chemistry, a BSc with major in chemistry, and a BSc with double major, as well as participate in Acadia’s award-winning co-op program. Both the Honours BSc and BSc with major in chemistry are accredited by the Canadian Institute of Chemistry. Acadia’s chemistry department has faculty members who are active in many research areas, including environmental chemistry, chemical biology, health and wellness, materials science, photochemistry, and photophysics, among others. B.Sc. with Double Major, Chemistry as Second Major option requires 30 credit hours of Chemistry chosen in consultation with the Chemistry Department as well as 6 credit hours from Math 1013/1023 or Math 1213/1223 or Math 2233/2243 course.
