Chemistry focuses on the structure, properties, and synthesis of matter which includes virtually everything. Students may pursue an Honours BSc in chemistry, a BSc with major in chemistry, and a BSc with double major, as well as participate in Acadia’s award-winning co-op program. Both the Honours BSc and BSc with major in chemistry are accredited by the Canadian Institute of Chemistry. Acadia’s chemistry department has faculty members who are active in many research areas, including environmental chemistry, chemical biology, health and wellness, materials science, photochemistry, and photophysics, among others. B.Sc. with Major in Chemistry option requires a minimum of 3h Chemistry at the 4000-level is required.
