The Department of Microbiology was founded as part of the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University in 1975.  Our mission is to educate undergraduate and graduate students, and conduct researches in the area of microbiology. This includes the application of microbiology in medicine, agriculture, industries, and the environment. In the past four decades, we have continuously been transforming into one of the leading microbiology departments in Thailand and Asia.

We are conducting cutting edge researches in bacteriology, mycology, applied microbiology, bioremediation, food microbiology, fermentation technology, microbial genetics, environmental microbiology, immunology, and virology.
