The Master of Science in Polymer Science (International Program) is a two-year graduate program offered by The Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC), Chulalongkorn University.  Following the discovery of abundant natural gas in the Gulf of Thailand in the eighties, there was a strong demand for qualified manpower to work in the fast-growing petrochemical and related industries. The Petroleum and Petrochemical College was thus established in 1988 to produce graduates of high international standards in the fields of petroleum and petrochemical technology and polymer science, comparable to the graduates from world-leading institutions.

Therefore, in 1992, PPC entered into academic partnership with three distinguished US universities – Case Western Reserve University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Oklahoma and started to offer international master and doctoral degree programs in Petrochemical Technology and Polymer Science.
Global trends in petroleum and energy consumption, international environmental policies, and the national policy of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) that is part of Thailand 4.0 Strategic Plan, is expected to create exponential growth of industrial development both in the region and worldwide. In order to provide manpower to accommodate these trends and to ensure the sustainable development of Thailand, the program aims at producing graduates with knowledge and skills in petrochemical and related through real-world problem-based learning.
