To support national development oriented towards the development of marine technology, adequate resources in this field are needed, both in quantity and quality. This is because sustainable development for Indonesia will depend heavily on Indonesia's success in developing marine resources. Driven by a desire to play an active role in programs to improve the quality of human resources in marine technology, since 1992, the Faculty of Marine Technology ITS has pioneered a collaboration with the Department of Marine Technology, The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, to pioneer a postgraduate program in marine technology. The Department of Marine Technology, which is under the auspices of the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK), has opened a Doctoral program in Marine Technology since the 2001/2002 academic year. Supported by 42 qualified teaching staff: 3 Professors and 13 Doctors. The supporting facilities available are as follows: Lecture Halls, 10 Laboratories, a Reading Room with over 6,000 library materials, 18 international scientific journals, Internet access, and other facilities.
