Chemical biology is the science that forms the basis of man-made materials, natural systems, and living organisms. Along with advanced theoretical studies, the program offers hands-on research opportunities that equip our graduates with highly valued skills for careers in research and industry. The Master of Science in chemical biology at Stevens requires 30 graduate credits in an approved plan of study, including core courses. Areas of Concentration: analytical chemistry, chemical biology, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, polymer chemistry. Other areas of concentration can be designed in consultation with the department. Research is not required but is encouraged in the master's degree programs, either through a Special Research Problem (CH 800) or a Master's Thesis (CH 900), and is counted towards the 30 credits required for the degree. All fellows and teaching or research assistants are expected to complete a thesis. Careers in Chemistry and Chemical Biology: formulation developer, quality control scientist, polymers and materials scientist, flavor chemistry, product development scientist, process sciences associate.
