Access to further studies: Master graduates may continue their education for educational degree “PhD” in Bulgaria and abroad Program importance: Importance of e-government education consists in increasing demand for specialist in e-government in Bulgaria and all over the world. General characteristics of the education: Degree program "e-management" is a new broad-integrated unique specialty. E-management is a strategic comprehensive view of the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the public sector and other activities related to social systems, such as electronic services, “24/7” administration, e-democracy, e-participation, electronic infrastructures and social networks. This leads to a development of technology and institutions with changing roles and activities for authorities as well for citizens. In the public sector ICTs are used to improve the relations and interplay between citizens and public administration, as well as between different activities in the public sector. The purpose of e-management includes increased efficiency, improved service to citizens, decreased corruption, better transparency in the authorities’ processes, and increased citizen influence. The e-management education is global in form and content and focuses on ICTs and their role in public administration. The program aims at developing the students’ ability to use and develop ICTs for e-management. Educational and professional goals: After completing the course students will have: - - - - - - developed capabilities to identify and analyze specific problems in e-management during design, implementation and exploitation of ICTs, as well as they should have known the good practices for solving similar problems abroad; been able to take well based decisions for buying, implementing, using and assessing ICTs in the public sector. This includes also capability for application of the basic legislation concerning data storage and problems regarding this field; acquired knowledge and skills in application of e-management in the public sector; obtained profound specialized training in the area of information security in public; been familiar with international developments in the area of e-management; been able to apply the acquired knowledge for solving practical problems in the area of e-management. Employment of the graduates: Specialists who have completed Master degree in e-management can perform management, design, research and teaching activities in public, governmental and business organizations. They will be able to: - - - - manage departments and offices in the diverse functional areas of administration and management and to control the execution of strategic plans and actions; design management systems and systems for administrative service of citizens; design and manage building of systems in the public administration, which provide information and services to citizens be teachers in secondary schools and universities.
