About Universidad San Francisco Xavier (USFX)
The Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca - USFXCH (The Royal and Pontificial Major University of Saint Francis Xavier of Chuquisaca) is a public university in Sucre, Bolivia, with the following purposes, mission, and vision.
Purposes:
a) The advancement of knowledge in all fields through scientific research aimed at solving the problems of our region and the country, as well as promoting a process of integration between universal scientific knowledge and the traditional knowledge of our cultures and ethnicities.
b) The training of professionals of excellence, aware of the structural transformation of our national reality, with the perspective of consolidating a sovereign and independent country.
c) The articulation of the scientific and cultural activity of the University with national development in all its aspects, as well as with the just demands in the search for a more just, equitable, and inclusive society.
Mission
"To train human capital of excellence, with a critical and entrepreneurial spirit, capable of scientifically researching reality and contributing to the economic and social development of the region and the country, through innovation, science, and technology, within the framework of a permanent link with society."
The substantive functions of the University are:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate education, comprehensive and of high qualification and competence, which improves the employability of professionals and their entrepreneurial capacity, in accordance with the demand for sustainable development in the region and the country.
- Research and knowledge transfer, aimed at solving the problems of society and the productive base of the region and the country, through development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- Social interaction and university extension, integrating science, technology, cultural diversity, and sport, in a reciprocal relationship with society, the natural ally of the University.
