The Texts and Technology PhD program offers interdisciplinary study inhumanities and technology, providing students a rich variety of experiences with the support and guidance of nationally-recognized faculty in the fields of Archiving, Digital Humanities, Digital Media, Gaming, Philosophy and Ethics, Public History, Scientific and Technical Communication, and Writing and Rhetoric. Since 2001, UCF?s Texts and Technology doctoral program has excelled in supporting its students by offering a rigorous curriculum in a friendly environment. Students bring a working knowledge of theory and practice in a specific discipline and deepen their understanding of the subject through a digital lens. In that program, students create new theories and digital practices. The Ph.D. in Texts and Technology program is part of a growing interdisciplinary field combining scholarly study, creative production, and assessment of digital media texts. The curriculum emphasizes theory and practice in new media supplemented by historical grounding in pre-digital media studies. This innovative program prepares students for research, teaching, and program development. Areas of research and production include digital archiving and editing, asset management, predictive modeling, information architecture, visualization, web design, distributed education, and game design.

Students must have a Bachelor (Honours) consisting of four or more years of full-time study, or a Bachelor degree following a National Certificate or National Diploma. International students also have the following other English language requirements: a minimum 220 on TOEFL (computer-based).
