The Data Analytics MS program is a new program starting fall 2016The Master of Science in Data Analytics program provides students with the ability to develop algorithms and computer programs for discovery of information from large amounts of data. This includes the architecture of programs, as well as technical details of algorithm development. Students are expected to be able to write and maintain novel computer programs that make efficient use of cutting-edge computer technology. Students in this nonthesis program receive a broad background in the areas of parallel programming, machine learning, data mining, and network science while specializing in particular areas of data analytics practice. Students successfully completing this program will have exhibited breadth as well as depth of capability involving discovery of knowledge from ?big data.? There is an increasing need to turn large and complex amounts of data into knowledge to drive business decisions. Companies are looking for people with the technical skills to manipulate, manage, and interpret data. Become an expert in the fast-growing field of analytics to see the big (data) picture. The MS in Data Analytics is a 30 credit hour interdisciplinary program that prepares students to develop algorithms and computerized systems to facilitate the discovery of information from large amounts of data. Students must have a Bachelor (Honours) consisting of four or more years of full-time study, or a Bachelor degree following a National Certificate or National Diploma. International students also have the following other English language requirements: a minimum 220 on TOEFL (computer-based).
