The M:ABBS focuses on promoting the various relevant dimensions of biotechnology and synthetic biology and their different fields of scientific and technological application, with a view to responding to current societal challenges and promoting greater sustainability. This study cycle equips students with practical and theoretical knowledge related to the application of fundamental concepts of chemistry and biology to explain and describe fundamental processes in biotechnology and synthetic biology, forming part of a global perspective of the applications of chemistry and biology in a wide variety of fields of intervention of biotechnology. In addition, the course: equips students with basic laboratory skills in biotechnology and synthetic biology; promotes efficient team communication and collaboration; prepares students to develop and present scientific and technological communications adapted to specific audiences; develops skills for task organisation according to a work plan and gathering and critical analysis of scientific and technological information; raises awareness of the ethical dimensions of biotechnology and synthetic biology and of the need for lifelong learning.

Admission Requirements
- Possessing a B. Sc. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related areas, in any case with a minimum training of 90 ECTS in Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Biochemistry;
- Holding an Academic, Scientific or Professional Curriculum that the Scientific Committee of MeBiBiS considers as sound enough to demonstrate the applicant’s capability to successfully obtain a Master Degree in Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology. Applicants who do not hold a B. Sc. degree by the application deadline, but who are expected to complete such degree by the enrollment deadline, must demonstrate their academic curriculum and certificate of all approved courses, respective ECTS units, scientific area, and averaged classification.
