The Master's Degree course in Physics from FCUP equips students with advanced and up-to-date knowledge in classic and modern Physics that underpin the development of explanatory models and the understanding of an extensive range of phenomena. Combining skills in Mathematics and computational methods (fundamental tools for the formulation and quantitative analysis of problems and models) with training that involves experimentation, data analysis, various forms of instrumentation, techniques of measurement and design and experiment conceptualisation, the course qualifies students to work in higher level technical or research and development positions, in governmental organisations, in the private sector or as freelancers.

Admission Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Physics or Physics Engineering, or a bachelor's or master's degree in a related area, considered appropriate by the scientific committee of the Master in Physical Engineering (M:EF);
  • Hold a foreign higher academic degree in one of the areas referred to in the previous paragraph, having a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process.
  • Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by M:EF Scientific Committee as meeting the objectives of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Engineering or similar
