The Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Laws (Honours) is designed for those at the intersection of law and science. This course offers a foundation in both disciplines. Please note that this is an exit-only course. There is no direct admission to it. Current UTS students who meet the criteria for Honours may be able to submit an Internal Course Transfer (Graduating) application to exit with this course. Check with the UTS Student Centre.
Learning is through full-time study, with opportunities for practical training in state-of-the-art labs, and deeper legal exploration in a wide range of electives. The course addresses the increasing need for scientific expertise among lawyers. Graduates develop critical and analytical skills necessary when making decisions as they understand the complex links between science and law, increasing their employment prospects and career opportunities in both fields.
Career prospects are broad, spanning legal positions in science-rich industries, environmental regulation, health and safety, R&D, and intellectual property.
The program provides full-time study for students wishing to obtain a professional legal qualification that satisfies the academic requirements only for admission as a lawyer together with a science specialisation.
